Crystal Palace are set to turn down fresh offers from Championship clubs for midfielder Ben Watson.

Manager Neil Warnock admitted the new bids, rumoured to be from long term admirers Queens’ Park Rangers and Championship new boys Nottingham Forest, were better than previous ones, but still fell short of the club’s valuation.

He said: “We have had a few more enquiries for Ben which is why I pulled him out of the game last night as I didn’t want him injured. They were better bids but not acceptable.”

Birmingham City are also thought to be interested in signing the 22-year-old but will have to stump up more than the £1.25m offer QPR have already had rejected.

Watson has a year left on his contract and turned down the offer of a new deal to stay at Selhurst Park.
