X-Files actress Gillian Anderson has revealed that fans will probably be most shocked about the absence of any aliens in new movie The X-Files: I Want To Believe.
Speaking at the film's world premiere in Hollywood, the actress, who plays Dana Scully, gave away a few teasers about what we shouldn't expect from the top secret plot: "The fans, from what I've been hearing, have been surprised that there aren't any aliens in the movie."
"One of the things we have to remember is that the series was about so many different aspects of the paranormal and the spiritual and there are so many different things to explore that it kind of makes sense that we didn't immediately jump on that band wagon because there are so many films about aliens."
Without revealing anything, she added: "The writers chose to do something a bit more profound and poetic and hopefully the fans will feel satisfied by that."
Perhaps more tellingly, her on-screen counterpart David Duchovny hinted that perhaps some romance could be on the cards: "People will be surprised not only how scary and complex it is, but also how emotional and romantic it is at the same time."
